17-07-2009 on 13:10 | | Stage #13; Vittel - Colmar (200km) :: The 96th Tour de France / Le Tour de France :: France Stage thirteen will be 200km long, and they do enter the Vosges today. It's not like the Alps with mountain high climbs, but the five official climbs today could bring a great spectacle to the stage and maybe the overall standings. The first 100km are more or less flat but then three difficult climbs will show up; The Col de la Schlucht (1139m; 9.8km to 4.2%), followed by the Col du Platzerwasel (1193m; 8.7km to 7.6%) and the Col du Firstplan (722m; 8.4km to 5.4%). The final climb is located on 20km of the finish which might offer a chance to upset the yellow jersey today. This stage can be compared with the final stage of Paris - Nice. A great stage, hopefully the riders will make it worth watching today! Official comment: "A medium mountain route in the Vosges with three passes is the ideal occasion for firebrands who feel comfortable with intermediate challenges. The road between Vittel and Colmar has all the makings of a tricky stage." |
