Stage #20; Montelimar - Mont Ventoux (167km) :: The 96th Tour de France / Le Tour de France :: France Stage twenty, a short but intense stage with an impressive finish to the Mont Ventoux, also called the moon mountain. Let's just focus on that climb, as it will be the last chance for those behind the yellow jersey to take some time or to attack the yellow jersey, as after today almost everything besides the green jersey will be decided. The Mont Ventoux, the final summit of this Tour, is a 21.1km long climb, at an average slope of 7.6%. It's a difficult climb, which doesn't start that difficult but it ends with the final 2km at an average of 9.5%. Have fun and enjoy todays stage! Official comment: "Some of the Tour de France’s most legendary pages—glorious or tragic—have been written on the slopes of “Mount Baldy”, but it has never been on the route just 24 hours from the final finish. Whatever the lead of the rider wearing the Yellow Jersey, he will have to face the Tour’s toughest climb with fear and humility." |
